<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor capable of obtaining a normal output from a detection element by stably securing insulation between conductive members by maintaining insulation of a separator disposed in an outer cylinder. <P>SOLUTION: Coating layers 64 and 69 composed of fluorine or a fluorine compound are formed on the surface of a separator 60 (a front separator 61 and a rear separator 66) of an NOx sensor. The coating layers 64 and 69 have water tightness and water repellency. Even if moisture is contained in the atmosphere in the outer cylinder 30 and is condensed on the surface of the separator 60, the moisture is not infiltrated into the separator 60 by the coating layers 64 and 69 having water tightness, thereby enabling securing insulation of the separator 60. In addition, the coating layers 64 and 69 having water repellency prevent water droplets from spreading on the surface of the separator 60 to form a water film, thereby causing no leakage current through the water film. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
