A time sequence of images is generated in a method for encoding a first video stream. For this purpose, a synchronization signal is used which is derived from a second video stream that is independent of the first video stream or which forms the basis for the encoding of a second video stream that is independent of the first video stream in a corresponding manner to the encoding of the first video stream.
