The method involves connecting a control electronic unit with a superordinate computer by a data transmission line, where the electronic unit comprises a unit for limiting motor voltage to a voltage limiting value (U1). Control electronics pulse width modulated drive signals are produced for controlling power semiconductor switches of an inverter unit. A motor voltage value is detected and transmitted to the computer, and rotation speed of a drive is limited in a safe system state such that the voltage is limited by the electronic unit to the limiting value and monitored by the computer. An independent claim is also included for a system comprising a circuit board.
