<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the quality of print output in such a way as the user can comprehend whether unintended print output results from the apparatus conditions including abnormality of an apparatus in an image forming unit or not. <P>SOLUTION: A copy original is read (S101), and an input image is processed as image data for print output and developed in a memory (S102), before being printed (S104). An image formed on a paper medium by printing is read by means of a scanner (S105), and reproduced image data is developed in a memory (S106) and compared (S107) with the image data for output developed in the memory at S102. If there is a difference between the both data, an estimation can be made that a proper output could not be obtained because of the abnormality of an apparatus occurring in output means (a plotter) or the like, and output quality is determined based on the comparison results (S108).
