The invention relates to a glass or glass ceramic article having a decorative coating, wherein the decorative coating comprises a decoration and sealing coating, wherein the decorative coating comprises a decoration layer and a sealing layer. The decoration layer is applied to at least some of the surface area of the glass or glass ceramic substrate, and the sealing layer is applied to at least a portion of the decoration layer. The decoration layer is a cured sol-gel coating comprising inorganic solid particles, and the sealing layer is a cured silicone coating comprising inorganic solid particles. The invention further relates to a method for producing such glass or glass ceramic articles.
