341,839. Lever clips. WALKER, Ltd., T., WALKER, G. T., and WOOD, H. H., Birmingham Buckle Works, St. Paul's Square, Birmingham. Jan. 30, 1930, Nos. 23193 and 19416. Divided on 341,289. [Class 44.] In a clip for fastening webbing, straps &c. but particularly described as applied to the adjustable band of a stocking suspender, the lever limb 6 is inclined at an acute angle to the operating limb 1 so that a flat face of limb 6 clamps the main portion of the band 3 against an upstanding seating, the edge of limb 6 passing over or co-operating with a shoulder adjacent to the seating. As shown in Figs. 1, 2, the lever is pivoted on the upper bar 2 of a loop and the end of the band 3 is secured to the device by an attachment plate 5, one edge of which is curled round the lower bar 4 of the loop to provide the shoulder 9 which is just cleared by the edge of lever-arm 6. Plate 5 is bent to channel form and compressed to grip the end of band 3, the upstanding portion 8 of the plate providing the seating. Fig. 3 shows a form in which the plate 5 is flat and soldered to the lower bar 4 of the loop which provides the shoulder, the parts 4, 5 being enclosed by the end of band 3 which is secured by stitching. A modification is described in which the lever is pivoted between lugs upstanding from a back-plate which forms the seating and is cranked to provide the shoulder, the end of the band being passed through a slot near the lower end of the plate and secured by stitching. Further modifications are described in which the lever is pivoted between lugs integral with a channelled plate generally resembling that shown in Fig. 1, various ways of forming the plate being illustrated. |
