<p>A wave-shaped retainer installed in a ball bearing used with grease lubrication is configured in such a manner that the resistance of the retainer against wear, seizure, and damage is improved. A wave-shaped retainer (5) for a ball bearing, comprising a pair of annular retaining elements (6, 6) and configured in such a manner that the balls (4) of the ball bearing (1) are retained in pockets (8) formed by opposing curved sections (6a, 6a) of the retaining elements (6, 6). Protrusions (9) protruding in the axial direction are provided on the inner peripheral side of connection sections (6b) for connecting the curved sections (6a) of the retaining elements (6). The configuration suppresses the reduction of grease caused by the rotation of the ball bearing (1) having the retainer (5) installed therein. As a result, the lubrication between the inner surfaces of the pockets (8) and the balls (4) is satisfactorily maintained for a long time period, and the wear of the inner surfaces of the pocket (8) and damage on the bearing are less likely to occur.</p> |
