The present invention discloses a subtitle superimposition method, which comprises the following steps of: determining image data of a subtitle to be superimposed according to the content and the attribute of the subtitle which is inputted by a user; generating the subtitle to be superimposed by using the image data of the subtitle to be superimposed; generating an imitated subtitle according to the subtitle to be superimposed; generating an imitated image background according to an actual image background, and superimposing the imitated subtitle on the imitated image background to determine the effect parameter value of the imitated image generated by superimposing; and if the effect parameter value is more than a preset threshold value, superimposing the subtitle to be superimposed on the actual image background. The present invention also discloses a subtitle superimposition device. The method provided by the invention can save resources and improve the efficiency of subtitle superimposition.
