<p>Disclosed is a steering device provided with a fixed cam exhibiting durability and shock-absorbing properties, wherein the assembly of a tilt locking mechanism for elastically supporting the movement of a moveable tilt locking gear in the tilt direction relative to a fixed cam by means of a spring is facilitated. Once the cylindrical section (51) of a tilt stopper (5) is inserted into a through hole (84), the diameter of the cylindrical section (51) is enlarged and the locking surface (552) of an engaging protrusion (55) engages with the end surface of a fixed cam (8) on the side of the tilt cam surface (85). Moreover, the right end surface (523) of the flange section (52) of the tilt stopper (5) comes into contact with the end surface (68) of a moveable tilt locking gear (6). The moveable tilt locking gear (6), a wire spring (7), and the fixed cam (8) are integrated by means of the tilt stopper (5) so that it is possible to prevent the four components from separating while being transported, therefore being able to shorten the assembly time. Moreover, the position of the wire spring (7) and the fixed cam (8) in the axial direction can be maintained at a fixed position because the position of the four components will not misalign in the axial direction.</p> |
