Embodiments of the present invention relate to an electro-optical display device and a manufacturing method thereof. An electrophoretic display device according to one embodiment of the present invention includes: first and second substrates facing each other; a plurality of cells that are defined by dividing a space between the first and second substrates in a direction parallel to main surfaces of the first and second substrates, and by forming a plurality of partition walls disposed between the first and second substrates; and an optical conversion layer that includes a dielectric fluid filling the cells, and at least one electrophoretic particle diffused in the dielectric fluid, wherein the first substrate includes individual electrodes applying a driving voltage to the cells, and the bottom of each of the cells in the optical conversion layer is directly closed by the first substrate.
