COLLISION TIME CALCULATION DEVICE, COLLISION TIME CALCULATION METHOD AND ITS PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collision time calculation device for alarming a driver at the right time.

SOLUTION: An arrival time to arrival of an approaching vehicle at a surface including an optical center of a photographing device 20 installed in an own vehicle is calculated by using an optical flow about the approaching vehicle which approaches the own vehicle. A collision prediction time to collision of the approaching vehicle with the own vehicle is calculated based on the arriving time. The collision prediction time is calculated without being largely affected by an error caused between the magnitude of a vector indicating a movement locus of the approaching vehicle and the magnitude of the optical flow even though the approaching vehicle is located far from the own vehicle. Thus it is possible to alarm a driver at the right time in order to avoid the collision by previously calculating the collision prediction time to collision of the approaching vehicle with the own vehicle.
