<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mitigate performance loss due to sub-optimal combining and equalization in high frequency selective channels. <P>SOLUTION: A broadcast/multicast transmission format comprises a data portion (402 and 504); and a cyclic prefix (CP) (404 and 502) coupled to the traffic data portion. A method and system for providing broadcast/multicast transmissions with the application to communication systems that perform broadcast or multicast transmission is also disclosed.
