<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dimmer capable of suppressing a change in a blur level when adjusting a light quantity incident on an image pickup element, and achieving miniaturization. <P>SOLUTION: A dimmer 10 for adjusting the quantity of light incident on an image pickup element 17 includes: a light-shielding plate 11 which is discretely formed with a plurality of light-shielding parts 11a for shielding from the light, and formed with a transmission part 11b for transmitting the light; a first dimming plate 12 which is discretely formed with a plurality of dimming parts 12a for reducing the quantity of light passing therethrough and formed with a transmission part 12b for transmitting the light; and moving means 14 for moving at least one of the light-shielding plate 11 and the first dimming plate 12 in a first direction crossing with the light incident direction.
