<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article capable of certainly erecting pleat parts accompanied by work for developing the absorbent article from a folded state without requiring special work for erecting the pleat parts and capable of certainly preventing the absorbent article from being mounted in a state that the pleat parts are allowed to lie. <P>SOLUTION: The absorbent article 10 is delivered in a state that the left and right folding parts 111 of an absorbent article body 11 are superposed one upon another on the skin surface side of the intermediate parts 112 thereof, and the folding parts 111 are developed at the time of use. The left and right pleat parts 12 are provided so that the end parts on both sides in the longitudinal direction Y thereof are jointed to the intermediate parts 112 by pleat end jointing parts in a state allowed to inwardly lie on the internal side in the lateral direction X thereof.
