PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately perform data recording to an optical disk provided with a recording layer using an organic pigment regardless of an environmental temperature.

SOLUTION: The present data recording method comprises a step of reading a medium ID of an optical disk to be data-recorded and a step of setting a write power Pw and a cooling pulse power Pc so that when the read medium ID is an optical disk provided with a recording layer using an organic pigment having absorption spectrum recordable in a wavelength range of 400 to 410 nm, a ratio X of a cooling pulse power Pc in a cooling pulse included in a castle-type recording pulse waveform to a write power Pw in a top pulse and a last pulse included in a castle-type recording pulse waveform is 0 or more and 0.10 or less.
