<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter device capable of suppressing clogging of a filter element. <P>SOLUTION: A suction filter 10 provided at an inlet port 4 side of a fuel pump 3 pumping fuel from a fuel tank 2 includes a net-like screen 20, a protector 11, and a passage member 30. The screen 20 captures foreign matter included in the sucked fuel sucked into the inlet port 4 of the fuel pump 3. The screen 20 is provided with the protector 11 and the passage member 30 for forming a main channel 31 and a branch channel 32 through which return fuel discharged from a high pressure pump 6 supplying the fuel pump by the fuel pump 3 to an internal combustion engine, a common rail 7 or an injector 8 flows. The passage member 30 allows heat exchange between the return fuel flowing through the main channel 31 and the branch channel 32 and the sucked fuel passing through the screen 20.
