<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel and improved rechargeable battery that can improve the temperature detection performance of a resistor element. <P>SOLUTION: The rechargeable battery comprises an electrode assembly, a pouch in which the electrode assembly is embedded such that a pair of terminal tabs of the electrode assembly are drawn out to the outside of the pouch, a resistor element connected to one of the terminal tabs, being in contact with the pouch and having a positive temperature coefficient, and a pressing member that presses the resistor element and that is coupled to an external surface region of the pouch.
