<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device which can improve convenience for a user. <P>SOLUTION: An electronic device in an embodiment is capable of controlling operation of an external device by transmitting an operation command to the external device. The electronic device comprises: first communication means which transmits a confirmation request to the external device for confirming whether or not the external device supports the operation command and receives a response notification from the external device, including information about whether or not the external device supports the operation command; reception means which receives a remote control signal from a remote controller; second communication means which sends to the external device an operation command corresponding to the remote control signal received by the reception means; and notification means which gives notice if the information included in the response notification has indicated that the external device does not support the operation command corresponding to the remote control signal received by the reception means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
