The device (1) has left and right endless conveyor belts (20, 21) that are synchronous with each other and are guided circumferentially around front and rear deflection rollers (3, 4). Two lateral guide units are provided for guiding, aligning and centering of objects e.g. semiconductor wafer (2), conveyed by the belts in a direction (y) transverse to a conveying direction (x). The guide units are provided with guide projections (25) that are aligned together and are provided parallel to edges of the belts. The projections are connected with the belts or formed as one-piece with the belts. An independent claim is also included for a method for linearly conveying objects.
