GLOSSY PAPER AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently manufacturing glossy paper which is superior in ink absorbency, superior in ink color development property and high in glossiness by using a re-wetting method.

SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing glossy paper includes: a process of applying an application liquid for an ink reception layer containing a pigment and a binder to at least one surface of an substrate having air permeability and drying an applied surface to form at least one ink reception layer; and a process of applying a re-wetting liquid to the surface of the outermost layer of the ink reception layer to form a glossy layer by a cast coating method according to the re-wetting method which brings the surface into press-contact with a heated mirror-surface roll and dries the surface while the ink reception layer is in a re-wetted state. Wherein the pigment contained in the application liquid for ink reception layer has a BET specific surface area of 100 to 400 m2/g, the re-wetting liquid contains a weak acid, and has a pH of 2.0 to 6.9.
