<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a "cursor display method and character input device" in which, when inputting a character string in which characters of opposite writing directions are mixed, an input character just before the latest input character can be surely confirmed. <P>SOLUTION: When input of a first character toward a first character input advancing direction is switched to input of a second character toward a second character input advancing direction opposite to the first character input advancing direction, a cursor 2 is moved to be displayed in the second character input advancing direction with the advancement of input of the second character.
