<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method with which user can easily identify peripheral devices to be removed. <P>SOLUTION: Identifiers including icons and character strings which can be easily identified by a user are associated with peripheral devices connected to a computer. When the user removes peripheral devices from the computer, the identifiers are displayed on a display means such as the computer's display screen; therefore, the user can easily identify the peripheral devices to be removed.
