<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a memory card from being electrically damaged by static electricity even when a user's charged hand touches a cover. <P>SOLUTION: A metal cover 3 for closing an opening is openably/closably and slidably attached via a hinge to a resin connector housing 1 into which a memory card is inserted from the opening. The cover 3 is provided with a metal operating element 14 to be inserted in the connector housing. The connector housing 1 is provided, adjacent to an insertion position of the operating element 14, with a switch 18 consisting of a movable contact piece 16 and a fixed contact piece 17 which is in contact with the movable contact piece 16. When the cover 3 slides, the movable contact piece 16 is moved away from the fixed contact piece 17 by the operation of the operating element 14 to thereby open the switch 18. The connector housing 1 is provided with a ground terminal 22 to be connected to a ground part of a circuit board.
