<p>A method for processing short messages and a short message center system are disclosed in the present invention. The short message center system includes a scheduling and distributing module and multiple service processing modules; wherein, the scheduling and distributing module is used to receive short messages from external network elements and to distribute the short messages, according to the operation attributes of the calling users or the called users of the short messages, to the service processing modules corresponding to the operation attributes; the service processing modules are used to receive the short messages from the scheduling and distributing module, and to route the short messages according to the identifier of the called users of the short messages. The device resource can be saved and the device cost can be reduced by the present invention.</p>
