344,129. Davits. EDWARDS, L., 77, Worcester Street, Boston, U.S.A. Jan. 7, 1930, No. 646. [Class 115.] A davit is composed of short lattice members connected on one side only and is capable of being retracted into a casing between decks. The lattice members 29, 30 are connected on their rear edges by links 36 and have abutments 31, 32 on their front edge. The davit is supported from a casing 13 which is rotated by a platform 17 bearing a motor 18<1> which is connected to gearing in contact with a circular rack 18. A rope 80, secured to the lowest section, is used to project the davit whilst the rope 71 is used to retract it. The drum 78 is connected by the friction-clutch 83 to the gear train 82, 57 driven from the pulley 61 by belt 60. The boat lifting hook 67 is carried on the rope 38 which passes over pulleys 73, 75 and 48, to the drum 49. This drum is driven similarly to drum 78. To trip the hook a rope 90 is secured to it and is carried from the davit head, around a drum 92 having a hand-brake 94, and supports a weight 93 within the casing 13. |
