Method for operating a domestic appliance

The method involves activating an electrical consumer i.e. electromotor (5) such as permanent-excited synchronous motor, by power electronics (7), and determining an actual value that represents a temperature loading of the electronics. The actual value is compared with a limit value representing maximum tolerable temperature loading of the electronics in a normal load operation. An overload operation is temporarily released with high power than in the load operation when the actual value is below the limit value. The actual value is determined depending on actual current of the consumer. An independent claim is also included for a household appliance comprising a power electronics assigned to an electrical consumer.
