<p>A filter includes a filter chamber of adjustable volume. The filter chamber encloses a compactable filter medium through which fluid to be filtered may flow. The filter medium includes a plurality of filter particles. A filter particle has an initial shape and is deformable upon application of a deforming force, being capable of substantially regaining its initial shape upon removal of the deforming force. The porosity of the filter medium is adjustable by adjusting the volume of the filter chamber so as adjust the compaction of the filter medium.</p> |
