PURPOSE: An air-conditioner and a control method thereof are provided to enable control by human motion at a long distance and to discriminate user motion for a command input standby step and a command input step. CONSTITUTION: An air-conditioner control method is as follows. If an image sensor in an air-conditioner detects a command preparation motion(S320), the image sensor outputs a signal indicating a command input standby condition(S340). In case that the image sensor detects a command input motion(S350) after the signal indicating the command input standby condition is outputted, the operation corresponding to the command input motion is implemented(S360).
