A hand tool battery device comprises a cell unit 12 having a cell holder 14 with at least two cell receiving regions 16, 18, 20, 22 each for equipping with a battery cell 26, 28, 30. The cell unit 12 has an operating mode in which at least one of the at least two cell receiving regions 16, 18, 20, 22 is unequipped. The cell holder 14 may comprise at least two guides 32, 34, 66 for providing different guidance of at least two energy feed lines 36, 38 of the cell unit 12 so as to enable provision of at least two different operating voltages in at least two variants of equipping the cell receiving regions 16, 18, 20, 22. The cell holder 14 may comprise at least one cell holding means 44 for holding a battery cell 26, 28, 30 independently of at least one other battery cell 26, 28, 30, and holding means 44 may comprise detent means. The cell unit 12 may comprise characterisation means (48, Fig 2) providing information, which is for detection by a hand tool, with respect to a variant of equipping the cell receiving regions 16, 18, 20, 22. |
