[Also in Groups XXXIII, XXXVI and XXXVIII] A fuel tank 2 carried in the wing 1 of an aircraft between the spars, consists of a group of tank segments 5, 6 clamped together between the ribs 7, 8, 9 with a backing board 10 attached to the ribs. The ends of the segments have a bead portion 12 formed round its periphery which engages with a groove 13 in the ribs 7, 8, 9. A clamping ring 14, held by a cap 15 screwing into a threaded hole in the ribs, prevents fluid leakage at the joint. |
