The present invention provides a system for avoiding falls, which is designed for preventing the staff working at heights from suffering lesions caused by falls. The present invention comprises an anchoring plate attached to the structure or building; a galvanised steel cable, which is attached to the anchoring plate and subsequently to an energy absorber, and finally to a counterweight for maintaining the tension of the galvanised steel cable. The function of the conventional energy absorber is to absorb the energy generated by the fall of the user from the inventive system, so that the lash suffered by the user upon being stopped is less sudden and reduces the risk of lesions. Finally the present invention provides a novel system for hooking the galvanised steel cable to the structure or building, which avoids the friction or drumming of said cable with the structure or building, thus increasing the useful life thereof.
