摘要
360,528. Gaseous-fuel furnaces. ATKINSON, J. S., 47, Victoria Street, London. Aug. 21, 1930, No. 25011. [Class 51 (i).] A gas-fired furnace for heating billets, forgings, glass, &c. is provided with a gas supply chamber 3, Fig. 1, separated by a partition wall 4 from a secondary air supply chamber 2 supplied with. heated air from a recuperator through a duct 8. Primary air under pressure is supplied through one or more nozzles 13 so as to induce the heated secondary air in the chamber 2 to pass through nozzles 9, Figs. 1 and 2, arranged in the partition wall 4, from which nozzles the mixed air enters apertures 6 in the wall 5 and carries with it gas from the chamber 3, the mixture of air and gas entering the combustion chamber. The nozzle 9 is provided with a ring 11 having holes 12 from which steam or air supplied to the ring may be directed into the apertures 6 for removing soot. When the nozzle 9 is not employed, the ring 11 may be arranged to surround an aperture in the partition wall or in other convenient position. The aperture in the partition wall when the nozzle 9 is dispensed with and in the wall 5 may be of venturi form. A second row of apertures 15 may be arranged beneath the apertures 6 and inclined downwardly for supplying a blanket of reducing gas over the charge in the combustion chamber. Nozzles 16, Figs. 1 and 4, passing through the partition wall deliver air to the apertures 15 and induce a supply of gas from the chamber 3. The nozzles 16 are provided with an inner adjustable tubular nozzle 18 for varying the gas mixture.
