PURPOSE: A biphenyl-4-yl diphenyl phosphate composition as a frame retardant of resin is provided to save production cost and to ensure thermal property. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing BDP(biphenyl -4-yl diphenyl phosphate) composition comprises: a step of mixing phosphryl chloride(POCl_3), 4-phenylphenol, and catalyst and reacting at -20°C to 0°C; and a step of adding phenol and reacting at 20°C to 50°C. The catalyst is anhydrous aluminium chloride, anhydrous aluminium fluoride, anhydrous magnesium chloride, anhydrous magnesium chloride, anhydrous magnesium fluoride, anhydrous manganese chloride, or mixture thereof.
