This invention is directed to provision of a playback system, playback method and program thereof whereby even in a case where a special playback is performed, the tempo can be maintained with reliability. The playback system (SY) of the invention is characterized by the inclusion of: a content playback unit (220) that plays back a content having a period; a special playback operating unit (230) that operates a special playback of the content to play back a playback position that is different from a playback position during a normal playback in which the content is normally played back; a special playback processing unit (235) that causes, in accordance with the operation of the special playback operating unit (230), the content playback unit (220) to perform the special playback; and a resumption processing unit (250) that, when the special playback is canceled to resume the normal playback after the performance of the special playback, sets the position of resuming the normal playback of the content to a position that agrees with a period timing of a case where the normal playback had been continued without performing the special playback.
