BACKLIGHT MODULE

A backlight module of which brightness can be adjusted dynamically is disclosed. The backlight module includes a light guide plate for guiding light, first light source group and second light source group. The first light source group and the second light source group are mounted on the two opposite sides of the light guide plate respectively. Both the first light source group and the second light source group include at least one light source, and each light source of the first light source group and the second light source group is one-to-one symmetrically arranged. In the middle of the bottom surface of the light guide plate there is a ridge-shaped groove. By the ridge-shaped groove the backlight module is divided into two relatively independent light source areas, and each light source area is divided into several light source sub-areas. According to predetermined brightness and distribution, on the sub-area the actual brightness can be controlled to reduce unnecessary power consumption and improve image contrast.
