<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of predicting the health of airfoils, more specifically cracks and breakage in real time. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes step 402 of determining delta TOAs corresponding to the plurality of blades; step 404 of determining a standard deviation using the delta TOAs corresponding to the plurality of blades; step 412 of determining a delta sigma_1 using the standard deviation and an initial standard deviation; step 414 of determining a normalized delta TOA corresponding to one or more of the plurality of blades utilizing the delta sigma_1; step 416 of determining a standard deviation of the normalized delta TOA; step 418 of determining a delta sigma_2 using the standard deviation of the normalized delta TOA and a previous standard deviation of normalized delta TOA; and step 428 of determining a corrected delta TOA corresponding to the one or more of the plurality of blades based upon the delta sigma_2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
