The device (10) has processing stations (14) at which motor vehicles i.e. cars (12) are moved by respective guide rollers in a guide rail along a predetermined path, where the predetermined path includes a slope area in the direction of travel of the cars. Braking elements (20) are provided in the guide rail for braking the cars in the processing stations. The guide rollers are connectable with a wheel (22) of the car. The guide rollers are designed as C-arms received in the guide rail running above the predetermined path.
