<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet folding device by which a sheet can be folded in an accurate position with a simplified folding mechanism in performing folding processing on the sheet with a folding roller pair. <P>SOLUTION: A second transport path is arranged in a direction of intersecting with a first transport path for guiding the sheet from a carry-in part to a carry-out part. The folding roller pair performing folding processing on the sheet and a folding deflection means for inserting a fold of the sheet in a nip part are arranged at the intersection part. The folding deflection means includes a driven roller which comes into press contact with the roller peripheral surface of the folding roller pair, and a shift means for shifting the driven roller from a waiting position to an actuation position. By the operation of shifting the driven roller from the waiting position outside the path to the actuation position, a sheet front end is fed to the nip part from an upstream-side guide path formed in the second transport path.
