[Problem] To provide an active material that is capable of providing a sufficient discharge capacity, an electrode that contains the active material, a lithium secondary battery that comprises the electrode, and a method for producing an active material. [Solution] A method for producing an active material, which comprises a heating step wherein a mixture containing a lithium source, a pentavalent vanadium source, a phosphoric acid source, water and a reducing agent is heated from 25°C to 110°C at a heating rate (T1) and then the mixture is heated from 110°C to a predetermined temperature not less than 200°C at a heating rate (T2) in an airtight container. In this connection, T1 > T2, T1 = 0.5-10 °C/min, and T2 = 0.1-2.2 °C/min. |
