<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an operator's work burden caused in discount/reduction processing. <P>SOLUTION: A code reading apparatus includes an imaging section, capturing means, reading means, determining means and output means. The reading means detects, from a captured image, a code symbol representing article information indicating an article to be purchased and a service indication representing service information indicating a service for purchase of the article, and reads, from the detected code symbol and service indication, the article information that the detected code symbol represents and the service information that the detected service indication represents. The determining means determines, in the case where a plurality of service information items are read, the service to be applied to the purchase of the article that the read article information indicates from the services indicated by the plurality of service information items.
