<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movable partition device which travels on a floor surface with rolling wheels at the lower end of a moving panel, moves a guide roller at the upper end along a guide rail provided on a ceiling, has the plurality of moving panels lined along the guide rail, can float the rolling wheels with a lift mechanism into a movement regulated state, has high traveling stability of the moving panels, allows all the moving panels to be in the same structure, allows the guide rail to be miniaturized, and also can close a gap. <P>SOLUTION: For a guide rail 4, a pair of slide pieces 28 are formed so as to face each other at the lower ends of both suspension plates 27 provided below both side edge parts of an upper plate 26. A linking member 7 is loosely fitted inside a recessed groove part of an upper frame 12 of a moving panel 1, and the upper frame and the linking member are elastically connected in the center so as to be swung and elevated/lowered by free connection means 8.
