<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back surface protective sheet which solves such a problem that the wiring is prone to short circuit while protecting a solar cell and improving power generation efficiency, and can discharge steam which once entered the inside or gas which is generated in the inside to the outside, and to provide a solar cell using it. <P>SOLUTION: A back surface protective sheet protects the back surface of a solar cell located on the side opposite from a light-receiving surface 4A from external environment. The back surface protective sheet has at least a metal layer 8, an optically transparent protective layer 10 arranged closer to the light-receiving surface 4A side than the metal layer 8, and an outer layer 6 arranged at a position farther from the light-receiving surface 4A than the metal layer 8.
