PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avert influences of any residual charge of data signals of previous scanning from remaining in a capacitor of a pixel circuit and provide high quality displaying.

SOLUTION: A display device is provided with a pixel circuit comprising: an active element selected by a horizontal scanning signal supplied with a pixel at each of intersections between a plurality of scanning lines GL arrayed in a matrix in a display area AR of a substrate SUB and a plurality of data lines DL crossing these scanning lines; a data holding element that holds data signals supplied from the data lines DL at turn-on of this active element; and a light emitting element OLED that emits light with a current supplied from a current supply line CSL in accordance with the data signals held by the data holding element. A reset circuit RST that causes at least a capacitor CPR or the data lines DL of the pixel circuit to return to the initial state thereof after the completion of scanning by the immediately preceding scanning line and before the supply of data for pixels corresponding to the next scanning line.
