The insert (1) has two plate surfaces, which are turned away from each other and support a relief-like profile (6), and a V-shaped opening (16) formed between two handle strips (7) and/or truncated pyramids. The truncated pyramids are arranged as the profile on the plate surfaces. A free surface (4) is connected to two cuttings (3) in a direction of a lower side (5) of the insert, where the cuttings lie opposite to each other. The profile made of the handle strips with a trapezoidal cross-section is provided on an upper side (2) and the lower side of the insert. An independent claim is also included for a plate seat for a replaceable cutting insert.
