<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection-type video display device capable of changing a frame rate while suppressing deterioration of a characteristic of the device. <P>SOLUTION: A projection-type video display device includes: a light source part 24 driven at a driving frequency corresponding to a frame rate of an input video signal; a light modulation element 18 for modulating light emitted from the light source part 24 based on ac input video signal; a projection lens 22 for projecting the light modulated by the light modulation element 18; and a control part 100.
