<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rechargeable/dischargeable secondary battery mounted on electronic equipment, industrial equipment, an automobile, etc., a negative electrode suitable therefor, and copper foil for a negative electrode collector. <P>SOLUTION: The negative electrode for secondary battery has a silicon-based active material formed in a filmy state on one surface or both surfaces of a collector base using copper foil or copper alloy foil, and uses a nonaqueous electrolyte.
