NEGATIVE ELECTRODE FOR SECONDARY BATTERY, NEGATIVE ELECTRODE COLLECTOR, SECONDARY BATTERY, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rechargeable/dischargeable secondary battery mounted on electronic equipment, industrial equipment, an automobile, etc., a negative electrode suitable therefor, and copper foil for a negative electrode collector.

SOLUTION: The negative electrode for secondary battery has a silicon-based active material formed in a filmy state on one surface or both surfaces of a collector base using copper foil or copper alloy foil, and uses a nonaqueous electrolyte. The negative electrode for secondary battery is characterized in that a silicon-based active material film of 1-14 g/m2is formed on the collector base, a lightness Y value of a negative electrode surface on which the silicon-based active material is formed is 15-50 in an XYZ colorimetric system (CIE1931 standard colorimetric system), and a surface roughness Rz (10-point mean roughness) defined by the Japan Industrial Standards (JIS B0601-1994 10-point mean roughness) is 1.0-4.5 μm.
