<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop operation or suppress an output of a power factor improving circuit 1 which becomes unnecessary or harmful when a semiconductor light emitting element 4 has abnormality such as an open circuit and a short circuit, in a lighting device which supplies current from an AC power source to the semiconductor light emitting element 4 through a power factor improving circuit 1 like a step-up chopper circuit 1a and a power conversion circuit 2 like a step-down chopper circuit. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting device for the semiconductor light emitting element includes the power factor improving circuit 1 connected to the AC power source Vs, the power conversion circuit 2 which power-converts the output of the power factor improving circuit 1 to supply the current to the semiconductor light emitting element 4, an abnormality detection circuit 7 which detects abnormality of the semiconductor light emitting element 4, and a control circuit 8 which stops the operation of the power factor improving circuit 1 or suppresses the output when the abnormality detection circuit 7 detects the abnormality. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
