<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-component developing device capable of reducing the amount of accumulated developer in an upstream area adjacent to a developer regulating member in the rotational direction of a developing roller and therefore capable of reducing stress to the developer in the upstream area and suppressing rotating torque of the developing roller. <P>SOLUTION: A developing device 4 includes, in an upstream area from a developer regulating member 43 in the rotational direction of a developing roller 41, a developer guide member 45 arranged in between the developing roller 41, and the internal surface 401 and a developer conveying member 441 of a developing housing 40. The guide member 45 has a developer supply amount regulating slit 49 formed in it, and developer is supplied from the developer supply member 441 to the developing roller 41 through the slit.
