<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium battery and a system, which have a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: The battery system uses air as a positive electrode active material, and a metal substance as a negative electrode active material, and includes: a thin film of the metal substance; a pair of reels with ends connected with the thin film; an electrode located in the vicinity of a passage of the thin film between the reels; and a dissolving liquid which the metal substance oxidised at power generation dissolves in, and which is located downstream of the electrode. As the metal substance, magnesium, aluminum, zinc, lithium, iron, etc. may be used. A copper electrode may be used as the electrode. Hydrochloric acid solution, sulfuric acid solution and acetic acid solution may be used as the dissolving liquid.
