<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casting apparatus capable of preventing any defective release therein, and to provide a method for manufacturing a cast workpiece. <P>SOLUTION: In the casting apparatus, a workpiece is cast in a die space to be formed by a fixed die 21 and a movable die 22 which are respectively fixed to a fixed platen 11 and a movable platen 12. The movable platen has release pins 13a, 13b projected from the movable die by the movement of the movable die to release the workpiece. The movable die has a first die 221 and a second die 222 to be divided in the releasing direction. The second die has a regulating part 222a for regulating the movable range from the first die.
